Mae Media founder Rachel Upshaw is an author + entrepreneur.
Rachel was born, raised, and educated in Austin, TX. After graduating from college (Hook ‘Em Horns), she moved to NYC where she worked in healthcare PR by day and wrote a very embarrassing dating blog by night (RIP Guide to Menhattan). Her corporate Fairy Godmother asked her to work in Berlin for six months, changing the trajectory of her life forever.
On her second day, she met her future husband Spiros.
After a dozen trips to Greece and her very own Big Fat Greek Wedding, she decided to write what she knew. Her debut novel GREEK LOVERS is a love letter to taking big swings in your life. It’s a mosaic of our favorite rom-com tropes. It’s a packing list of travel essentials and a trip itinerary readers can experience for themselves.
In 2024, Rachel had an epiphany: What if there was a company that merged curated content with high-quality products, community building, and travel adventures.
She dusted off her PR degree and founded Mae Media.
